What’s the Difference Between iPhone X High Copy LCD VS Original OLED?

LCD screens like those used in previous iPhones and the new iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are built on a backlight—a panel as large as the screen itself that produces a constant white light anytime the screen is on. A series of polarizers and filters are layered in front of the backlight to control the light and produce the image you see on screen. It’s been the dominant technology used in flat-panel displays for almost two decades, but keeping that backlight on draws a lot of power—and that’s a big disadvantage in a portable device.

An OLED does away with the backlight completely. Each individual pixel has a tiny amount of organic material that fluoresces when current flows, so the pixels produce light directly. It’s also possible to control brightness at a per-pixel level.

1. Comparing the appearance

Comparing from the front, there is no obvious difference between high copy and OEM screen.

4. As high copy LCD needs backlight, so the power consumption is faster.

iPhone 8/8P/X Light Sensor function is OK After Repaired

Recently, we have got feedback from many third-party repair shops that Apple Kills Light Sensor and Face ID Function of iPhone 8/8P/X Repaired by them, some iPhone 8 series and iPhone X have got ‘ambient light sensor not working issue’ after repairing.

Mysterious GrayKey – iPhone Unlocking Box

According to MacRumors’s report, news of a previously-unknown iPhone unlocking device called GrayKey surfaced, and today, MalwareBytes shared photos and additional information about the product, which is designed for law enforcement officials.

It is said that GrayKey is a small, portable gray box equipped with dual Lightning cables. Created by a company named Grayshift.


Two iPhones can be connected to the GrayKey at once, and need to be connected for about two minutes to install proprietary software that’s designed to guess the passcode for an iPhone. Once the software is installed, it will work to crack the passcode, a process that can take as little as a few hours for a short passcode or several days for a longer six-digit passcode.

Once the GrayKey software has cracked the passcode, it’ll be displayed right on the screen of the iPhone. The iPhone can then be plugged back into the GrayKey to download all of the data on the iPhone, including the unencrypted contents of the Keychain, which can then be accessed using a computer.

Based on screenshots, the GrayKey can crack modern iPhones running modern versions of iOS. It works with the iPhone X and iOS 11.2.5, the version of iOS that was likely available when the screenshots were captured. It probably also works with iOS 11.2.6, unless Apple has managed to block it in the latest operating system update.

Grayshift presumably designed the GrayKey for law enforcement professionals, and it’s relatively expensive. A $15,000 option requires internet connectivity and is geofenced to a specific location once set up, while a $30,000 option requires no internet connection and can be used anywhere.

MalwareBytes worries that the portable version of the GrayKey could easily fall into the wrong hands. It uses two-factor authentication, but given that people “often write passwords on stickies and put them on their monitors,” it’s possible the token could be kept in the same location as the device.

How the GrayKey works is not known, but it’s believed to be using some sort of jailbreaking process that could damage iPhones in some way. It’s also not known how the GrayKey device itself is protecting data that’s stored on it, and whether or not the data could be remotely accessed by hackers.

Apple is continually working to fix the kinds of exploits used by devices like the GrayKey, so it’s possible whatever mechanism the box uses will be fixed in a future update. The average iPhone owner likely doesn’t need to worry about the GrayKey, but as MalwareBytes points out, it is troublesome knowing such a device could fall into the hands of malicious entities.

Dismantle Front Housing of Galaxy S7 Edge/S6 Edge in 4 Minutes

As we all know, the technology for refurbishing LCD screen of Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is mature slowly, and the lcd assembly with front housing is more secure for repair shop and individual.


In recently, we find new ways to dismantle front housing of S7 Edge from LCD screen, and the LCD works well after dismantled the frame, the way is suitable for S6 Edge & S6 Edge Plus too.

First of all, we have to know the tools we need for dismantling front housing.

As following: LCD Vacuum Separator, Molly Wire, Naphtha, 0.08mm Plug Gage, OCA Film.

The detailed process are 7-step:

1. Soaking into Naphtha: Put the lcd screen with frame into the naphtha, the soaking time about 30 minutes. It is necessary step and ensure enough time for soaking.


2. Put on LCD Vacuum Separator: After soaking naphtha, we need to put the lcd with frame on the lcd separator which has rubber mat with holes, to ensure the lcd screen is fixed by the machine and the temperature of lcd separator is usually 70~80℃.


3. Insert the plug gage: the thickness is 0.08mm, which is flexible and soft. Insert the plug gage from the gap of the lcd slowly. Take good care of the flex cable in case of the damage in the process.


4. Insert the molly wire: pass the molly wire through the hole of plug gage, and insert into the gap of the lcd, then keep cutting the adhesive.



5. Remove the adhesive: use the molly wire cutting from middle to edge.


6. Insert OCA Film: use a hard film to cut the adhesive on both sides, here we choose OCA Film.


7. Test function: After dismantling the front housing, we should test the function first, and the lcd works well.

What Makes Waterproof Phone Free From Water Damages?


Speaking of waterproof cellphone, Sony may be the first name that comes into your mind. Nowadays more and more manufacturers are trying to make their phone waterproof, like Motorola and Samsung. As we know the new Samsung Galaxy Note 7 featuring the IP68 waterproof rating, even the iPhone 7 is waterproof. So how does a phone become waterproof and which part should be the most important in waterproof designs?


Generally, the common used waterproof materials are waterproof sealant tape, sealant rubber ring, waterproof membrane, Nano waterproof coating etc. Usually these parts like back cover, ear speaker, microphone, USB interface and side buttons are the most likely places to get involved with water. As to the inside, as long as the outside parts can be well protected from water, there is hardly chance for the inside parts get wet.

Like the gap between back shell/LCD screen and middle frame, usually there will be a strong sealant tape (as we called waterproof adhesive) fits tightly together. As to ear speaker, microphone (parts with porosities), which needs the assistance of air to work together. So the high-density mesh waterproof membrane is designed to use in these parts. This waterproof membrane can only let the air and voice go through, the water molecules can’t pass through without high pressures. That’s how it prevents from water damages.


When it comes to the gap between the phone body and USB charging port, headphone jack or SIM card tray, these parts are often sealed with the sealant rubber ring.

What is the Impact to Repair Shop If iPhone 7S Features OLED screen?

There are rumors that Apple is planning to equip its 2017 smartphones with OLED screen technology, despite previous speculation pointing to a 2018 switch from LCD.


According to the news from The Korean Herald, Samsung has signed a contract with Apple about supplying 100 million OLED screens in 2017. Another news revealing that LG has also added a product line for OLED screen, which will be put into production in early 2017. So in early 2017 or at the latest by 2018, we will see iPhone made of OLED screen.

As for the influences to the mobile phone repair industry, let’s first take a look at the supply of the mobile phone repair parts market.

Take the most popular iPhone replacement screens for example, there’re 4 different types of sources;

1. The original replacement screen

The main sources for original LCD screen replacements are spare inventories from original manufacturers or defective parts from original assembly lines.

The OEM-complaint replacements showed up because of the imbalance between huge demands for replacements and few original stock in availability. Comparing with the original screens, OEM-complaint ones work but still need to be improved regarding the display effect and working stability.

Judge from the market demand, the original, refurbished and flex-assembled LCD screen, which uses the original LCD, are the most needed replacement in the market.

However, since last June, the original LCDs are more and more difficult to be obtained due to the strong control of original factories for the spare inventories and defective LCDs, which makes the original LCD price rises drastically and leads the repair shops and screen replacement suppliers into a dilemma. In order to meet the demands of these repair shops, the parts suppliers customized and ordered the LCDs from the Chinese factories, and assembled these China made LCD screens by third party manufacturers. Subject to cost competition, the repair shops have no choice but to purchase the China made LCD screen replacements instead.

In the long run, the price of original LCD screen will not decrease so much due to shortage of supply.

So what will it truly bring to repair shops when Apple starts using the OLED screen in iPhones?The OLED technologies, are basically monopolized by LG and Samsung while the LCD production technology are already quite mature in China (both in high, medium and low-level). Unfortunately the Chinese LCD screen manufacturers for the time being has no technical strength to produce the small size OLED screen replacements in bulk and high standards (Though TM and JDF’s OLED product lines are under construction and pre-production, there is still a long way to meet iPhone product’s standards). Besides, the 3D touch function of iPhone LCD screen assembly increases the technical difficulty of production. We have to admit that the China made OLED screen replacements can’t meet the demands of the market in short term.
